Candye Kane rocks BB King’s in New York
OK my fellow Blues lovers, welcome back! For my post this week I have some photos of a performer I have seen just a couple of times but one that I have found to be not only very good but very strong to overcome some of the things life has thrown her way, Candye Kane. From beating pancreatic cancer to everything else Candye is one tough woman. I first saw Candye at The Traid in New York in August 2011 and not knowing what to expect I enjoyed her performance very much. That’s also when I first got to see and hear her amazing guitarist, Laura Chavez. Folks, keep that name in mind as you will be hearing quite a bit more from and about Laura. Candye has got a keeper in Laura. As Candye likes to point out, don’t get into the ‘good for a girl’ stuff, Laura is a very good guitarist, period!
The other time I saw Candye was at BB King’s in New York opening for Johnny Winter and that was in September 2011. Johnny always get a good crowd at BB’s so Candye had a prime spot opening for Johnny. The bulk of the photos are from the BB’s show. I’m sure the majority of the crowd was there for Johnny, which is no surprise, but I’ll tell you they loved Candye. Do yourselves a favor and check out Candye’s tour schedule and see if she’ll be near you anytime soon. Go see her and her band and I think you’ll like what you hear. I’m alreay looking forward to the next time I can see her. Enjoy the photos.
I want to thank Lauren Sachs for the access at BB’s and her continued support of what I do. I also want to thank Richard Ludmerer and Jamie Anthony of Blues Disciples Productions for the access and for continuing to bring some of the finest Blues acts to The Triad and keeping Blues alive in New York City.
