Welcome back Blues lovers! What I have this week are some photos of Savoy Brown from a Feb. 15, 2013 show at Iridium Jazz Club. Before the show guitarist Kim Simmonds was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame. Guitarist Michael Packer and ex-Savoy Brown drummer Roger Earl handled the presentation. The Iridium Jazz Club was also inducted with owner Ron Sturm accepting the certificate. After the presentations Kim and the band proceeded to tear it up. Kim played a fews songs on acoustic guitar before picking up his electric and wailing away. Drummer Roger Earl joined the band on a few tunes and I was told for the second set drummer Jeff Simon of George Thorogood’s band jumped in on a few tunes. Kim once again reinforced his stature as one of the great blues guitarists on the scene. Quite simply, the man can play! Enjoy the photos!
My thanks to Ron Sturm and everyone at Iridium.
