Welcome back Blues lovers! What I have this week are some photos of British Blues Awards Guitarist of the Year 2010 & 2011, Matt Schofield. The photos were taken at Iridium Jazz Club on Feb. 23, 2013. Joining Matt were Jonny Henderson on keys and Kevin Hayes on drums. This was Matt’s 3rd time at Iridium and he got a very good turnout. This was also my 3rd time seeing Matt at Iridium and 5th time overall. I caught the first set this night and just as I expected Matt was fantastic. Very tasty player that does not overplay or fall prey to showing off. I love the trio format with Jonny handling the bass parts on the Hammond. Kevin Hayes is a solid drummer and a former member of Robert Cray’s band. A friend of mine stayed for the 2nd set and told me it was even better. I cannot say enough about Matt. First time I saw him he was opening up for Mountain and after hearing him I knew he was the real deal. Matt and the band are on the road right now so please check the tour dates and catch this fine guitarist. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy the photos!
