Blue Ridge Blues Society – Owen Poteat, The One Man Boogie Band
I am Owen Poteat. I’m honored to be representing VA’s BRBS after making history and winning their band competition as a solo. I was born in a small town in NC and have been a happy struggling working musician most of my life.  Call me crazy, but I’ve always tried to put out more music than one person should be able to. I strive to create a rich full sound, which to me includes deep bass, drums and a versatile lead instrument. Life’s journey to create this full band sound has me where I am now… singing originals and original covers of great new and old blues songs while stomping real drums with my feet, playing alternating lead, rhythm and bass lines on the guitar and trying to push the soloing limits of a harp in a neck rack. www.OwenPoteat.com

Cape Fear Blues Society – Randy McQuay
Life in NC and passion for music, culture, and art led me to be a “roots” musician and songwriter. Traveling solo or with my band around the Southeast region of the US since the age 16, I have gained chops, experience, and notoriety. I have  an aggressive, soulful, and sultry voice that lures the listener into original, heartfelt lyrics. My acoustic guitar playing style is derived from “claw-hammer” and “Travis picking” styles with added percussion. Like an original trubadour, I harness the harmonica around my neck. Adding fast and sweeping single-note lines over  rhythm guitar, I create a “full band” sound. My idea is to push the boundaries of coordination, playing all the parts with no compromise. reverbnation.com/rootsoulproject

While heavily influenced by the Mississippi Delta and Chicago blues styles of the 1920s – 1950s, he is no history teacher – these are today’s blues for today’s people. “My songs are exaggerated reality, cynically simmered in a pot of sarcasm, and lightly seasoned with humor…If a juke joint was picked up by a tornado in Mississippi and dropped on top of my ex-wife in Chicago – this is the music the munchkins would be singing.” www.madmansam.com
